The difference here is a Biochemistry degree from the University of Iowa — which means I understand how protein, fiber, and fat actually behave in the body, how GLP-1 medications change satiety and absorption, and why a "healthy" meal that spikes your blood sugar isn't really healthy at all. For clients on Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro — or managing diabetes, heart disease, or post-surgical recovery — that biological literacy isn't a marketing line. It's the difference between food that works with your treatment or condition, and food that quietly undermines it.

Meet Chef Mike

Chef Mike Straw is originally from West Des Moines, IA and got his BS in Biochemistry from the University of Iowa.  He studied the culinary arts at the art institutes of america and johnson wales university.  he has been cooking for over 30 years and had his own personal chef business in St. Petersburg, FL for 10 years. Chef Mike has cooked all over the world and spent most of his time as a private ESTATE CHEF ON LAND and AS A charter chef on yachts in the Bahamas and Caribbean.  He has cooked for many famous clients, including Jimmy Dean 'the Sausage King', on his yacht the Big Bad John.

HOW IT WORKS

METHOD 1:  $40/hour   About $13/meal plus food costs:

One day in your kitchen. Twenty-one meals. No charge for commissary.  A proven model refined over 20 years of personal chef work. Everything happens in your home, with your groceries, in your kitchen.

Free consult & menu
We talk through your health goals, dietary needs, preferences, and the store you shop at. I build a rotating menu just for you. I use the fresh herbs and spices you love, not those you have to accept on a 'stock menu'.

I shop, 8–9 am

I shop at your preferred store — Whole Foods, Sprouts, Hy-vee, anywhere you like. Organic when you want it. Your account or mine.

I cook, 9 am–5 pm

A full day of batch cooking in your kitchen — two weeks of lunches and dinners, for monday-friday (most eat out 2 days), prepared with care, plated to portion.

Labeled & ready

First three days fresh, the rest portioned and frozen. Each container labeled and matched to a printed menu you can read at a glance.

No mystery. No guessing.
Every container is labeled and tied to a printed weekly menu. Open the fridge, glance at the menu, follow re-heat instructions, enjoy. The first three days stay fresh in the fridge. The rest go in the freezer, each one thaw-and-reheat ready.
No prep on your end. No surprises. No food going bad because you forgot what was in there. Just YOUR real food, ready when you need it, made just for YOU.  I give you the receipt for the food and you write me a check for that plus my time, usually around 8 hours.

METHOD 2:  $45/Hour  about $15/meal plus food costs:

Same meals prepared in my commissary for $45/hour, Delivered at no charge TO YOU fresh, LABELLED AND READY TO PUT IN YOUR FRIDGE AND FREEZER WITH MY HELP.  i'LL SHOW YOU WHERE EVERYTHING GOES AND HOW TO FIND IT and give you instructions on how to reheat it.
